Digital Security Is Important, Yo!

Digital security is…..HEY!  WAKE UP!  I know talking about digital security can be boring and at times intimidating, but this video puts the information in plain and useful language.  Do yourself a favor, yo: watch and learn!

See! That wasn’t hard at all and now you have a tangible digital security to-do list made easy.

BONUS TIP: Search Security

We’re all familiar with the dealings of Google poking around our web searches and snooping through our email, but did you know that there are two (among MANY) search engines that will keep your searches p-r-i-v-a-t-e?!  Hard to believe, right?

BELIEVE IT, BABY!

What are these wondrous services and more importantly how much do they cost?

#1: duckduckgo.com  FREE!

#2: startpage.com  FREE!

As you start (or finish!) your Christmas online shopping, these snoop-free search engines will save you lots of unwanted attention.

FYI: OMT! is not getting paid in anyway to feature these sites.  They are offered purely as a timely PSA.

We can never be too careful with our digital security.

  1. We seem to quickly forget how much information we put on the internet and how easy it is for other people to access it. Thanks for the reminder and search engine tip–I had no idea about those two sites you listed. I’ll have to check them out 🙂

  2. Good stuff Mrs. T!Here’s one for people who have trouble with passwords. A sample password: “Ofwaih”.
Meaningless collection of letters, right? Impossible to memorize? No. It’s an acronym formed from the first letters of he words in the first line of the Lord’s Prayer. Simple but unguessable. For an even better one, choose a quote that has numbers in it eg. “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” equals “swat7d”
