It was my fault. I didn’t blame the bars, or the recipe, or Mel’s Kitchen Cafe where I found the recipe.

I even know exactly where I went wrong. My pan was too small (I need a new 9 x 13 baking pan) and I cut them before they had a chance to cool properly and set.
Now, I’m an experienced baker; I know what I’m doing and how to make. things. work. The main problem I had, other than my total lack of patience? Photographing them. Taking them out of the pan waaaay too early was an invitation for them to slide into lazy indistinguishable geometric shapes. Baa!
Don’t believe me? Behold!
Is it a reckless rectangle?
A circle wannabe?
A laidback triangle?
A triangular sinkhole!
Just say no to crack! And weirdo oozing lumps.
Definitely a misshapen, but delicious, Fudgy Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar.
The entire pan is in the fridge cooling. I plan to cleanly cut those bad boys and stick them in the freezer. And yes, I was too lazy to take more shots when they were firm and could hold their shape. After my initial shock seeing the shots I got, their undefined borders grew on me.
While they looked, well, like that…they were nevertheless OMGOODNESSGRACIOUS delicious. The fudgy, the toffee, the cookie. Yes, yes and absolutely yes.
My apologies to Mel. CLICK HERE to see how to do it right and for the glorious recipe.
