Toddler Balance Bikes

If you are like me (clueless, in this case), you are asking yourself: what is a toddler balance bike?

Until Sweet E had one, I had no idea what a balance bike was, but now that I’ve seen him in action, I’m a believer.

This is a Strider balance bike, good from ages 18 months (~gulp!~) to three years:

No pedals!

As you can see, balance bikes do not have pedals. They work on teaching kiddos how to balance before they are ready to pedal.

Strider Bike Deets:

  • INSPIRE MOBILITY AND FREEDOM: We believe, if you can walk, you can ride. Our bikes are designed to focus on a simple goal: learning and improving balance. Through this approach, your child will also learn coordination and confidence. We have found it to be the best way to learn to ride.
  • ENJOY MASTERING RIDING EARLIER: Our simple focus provides for a safe, easy, and natural transition towards a pedal bike, getting your child to learn at their own comfort level how to balance on 2 wheels as early as 18 months and opening up to them the excitement of a whole new world to enjoy.
  • SIMPLICITY AND QUALITY: US patented, high performance design; simple 5 minute assembly (5mm wrench included); flat-free EVA polymer tires; 1 piece ultralight wheels; frame integrated footrest; adjustable seat and handlebars (11-16 in and 18-22 in respectively), and 2 year factory warranty.
  • TODDLER TAILORED SEAT: The 12 Classic includes the mini-saddle seat designed to perfectly fit toddler sized hips for children 18-36 months in age. Purchasing the XL seatpost will extend the use of your 12 Classic to children 36-60 months, 60lbs and under. The XL seat is included with the 12 SPORT.

Strider Bike Description:

STRIDER balance bikes are industry-leading training bikes that help children as young as 18 months learn to ride on two wheels. STRIDER balance bikes focus on the fundamentals of balancing, leaning, and steering without the distractions and complications of pedals or training wheels. The simple, no-pedal design builds confidence and eliminates fear by allowing kids to have their feet on the ground and progress at their own pace. This unique design teaches young children balance on two wheels right from the start, avoiding developmental delays typical with other ride-on toys or tricycles.

Genuine STRIDER balance bikes are the lightest balance bikes in their category, have the lowest seat height (for the youngest starting age), and are tested to the most stringent safety standards. Frame-integrated footrests, proprietary components, and the ability to easily adjust to a growing child, make the STRIDER the only bike your child needs to develop their riding skills and successfully transfer onto their first pedal bike without training wheels. And they can be used on any kind of terrain – indoors or outside. With almost 1 million sold to date – parents agree this is the top of the line for a kid’s first bike.

Watch this and become a believer (it’s hard to think of itty bitties tooling along without pedals or training wheels):

Sweet E loves his balance bike, just like the whippersnapper in the video does (not sure of E’s brand, but all work with the same basic idea).

If you’re looking for a gift that has WOW! power, a well-built gift that can be handed down to younger siblings when the time is right, this is it.

Just make sure to throw a fun helmet in the mix as well.

Happy Trails, y’all!

Oh I've been wanting one of those for Lielle! My friend that used one found her son transitioned to a pedal bike very easily!

It's amazing how they zip around on them!
