Confession Time: I’ve wanted a generously large goose down comforter for years, but have failed to fulfill that wonderfully fluffy dream because I’m scared of duvet covers. Yep, scared. They are totally bewildering to me. I’ve looked at them with no understanding.
Yes, I see you’re a cover that protects my goose downy investment. Yes, I see you have tabs. Yes, I see you have room for a duvet insert. No, I have no flippin’ idea how you work.
Then I saw this:
COMFORTER BURRITO!
People of the Internet: This is game-changing!
Once I no longer lacked the information and know-how that had been holding me back from sleeping in a cloud-like bed, I confidently went where I have never gone before: Goose Down Duvet and Duvet-Coverland!
~ A gentle reminder: OMT! uses Amazon referral links. When you do your shopping through the Amazon links on this page, you support the blog at no cost to yourself. It’s much appreciated!~
This is the comforter I bought and I/WE LOVE IT!: Pacific Coast King Comforter
A few days afterwards, I brought home a duvet-cover and couldn’t wait to try the YouTube burrito method (Garry and did it together the first time, but I have since done it several times by myself). It was SO SIMPLE!
What a relief! What a joy! What a simple way to protect that snowy white comforter!
NOTE: If your comforter doesn’t have tabs to tie the corners with, that’s okay, you can still use a duvet-cover. Simply insert as shown and give it a shake to smooth. Viola! Perfection.
MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: Some companies that use goose down in their products use inhumane practices to obtain the feathers and down. It’s called live-plucking (I’m sorry to give you the heaves, but this is important). I knew I’d never be able to invest in a product that was the result of this practice, so I went online and did my research. The Pacific Coast Company (in email correspondence and through my research) advised that they DO NOT employ the practice of live-plucking.
What a fluffy comfy relief.
Anyone else out there who was/is as confused as I was about duvet covers?
Come on, tell me I’m not the only person who had no idea what the hell to do with them.
TELL ME!
Or, mock me in the comments. Either way, I’m good.
Happy comforter burritoing, y’all!
P.S. I think that maybe a comforter is called a comforter if it doesn’t have the tie tabs and a duvet has the tabs. Or not. Obviously, I’m still somewhat confused.

I've actually never had any trouble putting my duvet into the cover ... But love to see new ways of things!

We have a king, so it's a bit more unwieldy, but we used this method and BAM! so easy!

Amazing. I had no idea it was that easy. When I and a duvet I was covering it the hard way all of those years! I wish I had one now but my husband isn't a fan so we are doing the usual comforter route. But I loved sleeping on a cloud too. Miss it.

Since we have always had a king-sized bed, I couldn't imagine wrestlin' that duvet into the cover, so for all these years it was a no-go. But once I saw the video, I started shopping. Now I'm wondering how many people bought a cover based on this video. I'm sorry you're missing the cloud; I'm totally in love.

Brilliant!! I always thought they were a pain in the neck to put on and that's why we don't have one. Now I can consider it again! Consider this pinned and stumbled. I want to be able to reference back to this!

After we got our cover, I had Garry bring the video up again on the laptop, so we could stop and start as we went along. Works! And to be truthful, I thought the duvet was fine without the cover, but since it's white the cover protects it from Dex (and me). Thanks for the shares, Michelle.
