HE’S HERE!

We got the call at 4am.  Husband rolled over and smiled, “It’s GO-TIME!”

We scrambled out of bed and ran around with 4am excitement ruling everything we did.  For the most part we got everything in the car that was meant to come with us, then off we went into a dark, foggy driving rain.

We live in South Texas, they in North Texas: we had a good 4.5 hour drive ahead of us.

When Boy and Girl arrived at the hospital, they were told that the baby would arrive by noonish.  Whew.  We’d make the birth!  But about an hour later, labor ramped and it looked like FB would be born between 9-10am.  By our calculations, we would arrive about 9:30.  It was going to be close, especially since we were slowed down by the fierce rain storm.

Soon, I got a text from one of Boy’s/Girl’s friend that was with everyone in the labor room.  We were getting a play-by-play!

pushing

pushing and yelling (this one made me ache for Girl as she went all natural, no drugs)

we see hair!

crowning!

Modern technology is a wonder.  Each time my phone alerted we held our breath.  Is he here?  Are they OK?

We finally got one that simply said: HERE!

…and then the first pic of that sweet sweet baby.

He was born at 9:06; we arrived at 9:30.  Yet, felt like we had been there for each contraction.

FB is no longer FB.  His new name, at least here, will be E.

Here are E’s dets: 8 pounds 12 ounces, 20.5 inches long.

At times he looks like Boy, then he turns his head and looks like Girl.  This morning they sent me a pic and it took my breath away.  Looks just like boy looked.

FLASHBACK!

No more waiting.  Our grandson is here!

He's HERE: Baby E
