What You Want to Know: Best Office Chair Under $200

What you want to know (yes, you do!): I offer you my review of the best office chair under $200.

~ A gentle reminder: OMT! uses Amazon referral links at no cost to you.~

As a heads up before we get started, while the title states under $200, I found this beauty on sale for…wait for it…under $100!

Woot Woot!

If you’ve been reading here any length of time, you know I have a bad back and it’s difficult to find a chair I can tolerate for the long hours I spend writing at my desk.

Oy, my gitchy back.

As a writer, there are days I’m budunkadunk in chair for over 8-hours a day.

Makes a gal creaky and worried about her lumbar health.

Patti Fun Fact: I’ve been taking an SEO course and for a solid week I was in my office over 10 hours a day, in this chair, and nary a whine was heard from my lips.

10 HOURS plus!

The humanity!

This chair handled all my needs. Perfectly. It’s the best, y’all.

Doesn’t hurt that it’s under 200 smackaroos.

The chair that graces my office (yep – I got the red “racing strips” as I call them): Realspace® High-Back Gaming Chair

(source: AMAZON)

It’s fun to look at and it’s comfortable, no matter how many hours I sit in it, staring at my computer screen.

I was hesitant to buy this chair because I thought the aesthetic would make me unhappy every day.

Since I spend the bulk of my day in my office, I wanted to be happy with not only how it felt, but how it looked.

My desk is a beloved old wooden school desk, the kind teachers used in the 50s.

My father had bought and refinished it himself, then gifted it to Garry when he went back to college, early in our marriage.

The chair I was using matched the desk; I didn’t know if I could give it up.

While I loved my old office chair, it had many drawbacks:

#1: It’s made of  wood.

#2: It’s stiff and unyielding.

#3: It lacks zippy wheels.

#4: It is devoid of the swivel action I desired and missed.

#5: It also needed an office chair cushiony cushion (< this is the link to the one I used and loved) to be tolerable for all those hours of writing.

One day, as we were out shopping, Garry convinced me to try this gaming chair in place of my wooden one.

I wasn’t convinced until the store clerk advised I could try it for 30-days without fear of it not being a good fit for me and my gitchy back.

“If you don’t like it, for any reason, just bring it back for a full refund.”

SOLD!

Once the chair was at the house and assembled, I don’t know who was more excited, Garry or Sweet E, who bogarts the chair for gaming every time he visits!

Which brings me to:

Doesn’t hurt that the best office chair also happens to be the best gaming chair.

If you have gamers in your life (who doesn’t?!), this makes a great gift for them.

Just ask Sweet E – he’ll give you all dem thumbs up!

You know, unless he’s playing. Then, you’ll just get silence and pure intensity of a gamer gaming.

You’ll ask again. Silence. Ask again…can he hear me?! Am I speaking out loud?

NO ANSWERS FOR YOU!

While I can’t be sure it’s the best gaming chair for lower back pain (cause I don’t game), I can attest to the just sitting in it all day part being incredibly comfortable.

If you frequent my IG account, you’ve seen this badboy, if not, here’s all the info you can stand:

My Review:

~ Lumbar support is AH-MAZING!

~ Firm enough to allow me to work ALL THE HOURS with….wait for it…little to no back pain.

This hasn’t happened for YEARS, y’all.

For the support alone, I’d get one.

~ That red racing stripe, though! You can get it in blue, but why would ya?!

~ My crack staff (Garry) said assembly was easy peasy.

~ While I’m not a fan of armrests, these move up and out of my way when I’m writing all the words.

At the end of the day, I keep the arms up and push my chair all the way up to my desk. It’s a nice compromise for us armrest hatas.

~ The wheels could roll a bit smoother, but to be fair, I have my chair on the carpet with no plastic rug thingy.

I can still roll in and out, I just wish it was a bit smoother (and no – not gonna bring a plastic rug thingy into my office. ICK).

~ Sweet E thinks this chair is his. When he and G-Daddy are gaming, he instructs me to move it outta my office and into the gaming room so he can sit in it.

Product endorsement, much?!

~ Handles my roughness.

I’m a freakin’ gorilla when it comes to breaking things. I have banged the chair into my desk over and over and still no marks or bruises.

OMT likey!

I’m honestly so thrilled I’ve found a chair that keeps me pain free all day that even if it looked like a loser, I’d sing its praises to ya.

Plus, I can swivel again.

Never ever underestimate the swivel.

Whether it’s for an office or for your gaming crew, your back (and kiddos – grand or otherwise) will thank you.

Make a note (do y’all use Tul pens?!) and get to shopping, my babies.
