OXO Good Grips Wire Cheese Slicer
(source: AMAZON)
BACKSTORY:
Boy came for a visit and searched high and low for our cheeseslicer (which we don’t use, cause, um, hello, sharp knives!).
When he finally retrieved it from the back of the kitchen tool drawer, he preceded to be horrified at our cheese-cutting options.
I tried explaining to him that a sharp knife was perfectly fine; it worked great for our needs.
He refused to be swayed.
Fast forward to Christmas morning and a new OXO cheese slicer was gifted to us.
~ Tension wheel lets you tighten wire when loose
~ Easy wire replacement with one additional stainless steel wire included
~ Cuts thick or thin cheese slices
~ Sturdy, die-cast zinc construction
~ Soft, comfortable handle
Slicing cheese just got easier with the OXO Good Grips Wire Cheese Slicer with Replaceable Wires. The stainless steel wire is easy to load and is tightened into place with the convenient tensioning wheel. The tensioning wheel can also be used to tighten wires that loosen over time. The sturdy, die cast zinc construction and the soft, comfortable handle allow you to easily pull the wire through medium and hard cheeses. Adjust the angle of your wrist to change from thick to thin cheese slices. The Wire Cheese Slicer is dishwasher safe and includes one stainless steel replacement wire in the package.
OMT’s HONEST REVIEW:
What I originally thought: Meh, a cheese slicer.
What I know think: So easy! I LOVE this silly little cheese slicer!
When Boy checked back in with us after Christmas, and I told him I loved it, he then went to his father to see if I was being sarcastic.

Child knows me so well!
Who knew that slicing cheese with a tool designed for cheese slicing would make such a difference. It does.
We usually by the block cheese (cheddar and Monterrey), so slice we must.
While a knife works great, a cheese slicer makes quick work of varying the thickness desired and truthfully makes them a bit more uniform.
My biggest grip, which is totally smallish, is that I haven’t perfected the slice to the bottom of the block.
Dexter’s not complaining though, as he gets those leftover bits.
If you don’t have a cheese slicer and have wondered if it’s worth the coin, I can tell you I give this one a 4 outta 5 OMTs!

Cute title. I use a knife to cut my cheese even though I have a couple of cheese slicers. I am too lazy to go past the knife block and get into the drawer where the slicers are.

Lol! I hear ya. Somedays it's easier to grab the closest knife. But when you neeeeed a thinly cut slice, a slicer is a great way to cut the cheese ;)
