Everyone Needs a Straw

Years and years ago, when Boy was an itty-bitty, I bought a glass straw dispenser just like this one and it’s still the most used item on my counter in the summer, all these years later.  The bonus is it still looks new and holds a boatload of straws.

Who doesn’t love a sturdy straw for their smoothies, darlin’?

Be still my heart, I love this sucker.

When you need a straw, this is how you snag one: Simply pull the top up and STRAW!

When I ran out of the original straws, I simply bought more. (I frequent restaurant supply stores for this sort of thing…you can buy in bulk for very little coin)  There is a stunning array of straw varieties available these days, from paper straws to paper-covered straws (this post has heart-shaped straws).

I personally love the paper-covered ones, especially if you have little hands reaching in and playing with the straws.  Kids gotta play!

The glass on this container is sturdy and thick.  It’s easy to clean and easy to fill.

If you’ve been looking for one of these badboys, you can stop: this one, pick this one!

My not so secret secret is that when I’m sick, feeling puny, on the couch whimpering while watching Netflix, I instantly feel better while sipping my ice cold 7-Up through a straw.  I think we all know that straws hold magical healing powers when one is sick.  If they’re red and sturdy, even better.

I imagine that as soon as Sweet E is old enough to realize there is a container of straws on the counter, he’ll need one for every drink.

A third generation user.  Me likey!

Happy Shopping, y’all!

I like the vintage look of these - and straws are great for kids' craft projects too - I collect the paper ones - maybe to the point of having to hide 'em from grandpa since it's that bad! What'll I say if he finds them and asks, "Why do we have so MANY of these?" and "What are you gonna do with 'em?" Ummm....answer to both questions: "I dunno!"

LOL! You're making me wonder if a straw hoarder show on TLC could be next.

Ever since I bought cute paper straws and a mason jar to hold them for my daughter's birthday party, I've had a thing for straws. They are so much fun and can brighten up a counter!

What a fun idea! We leave ours in the bag and pull them out one a time, but this is prettier!
