Strawberry Blueberry Smoothie
In this world of candied ever’thangs, may I present: a delicious no-sugar-added strawberry blueberry smoothie.
It’s as good as it looks.
Frosty. Thick. Tasty. Filled with nutrition. Fun!
Store-Bought Smoothie Or Homemade Smoothie?
I prefer to control ingredients by making smoothies at home.
I want to know every detail of what I’m putting in my body.
Plus, if I’m going to drink my calories in smoothie form, I don’t want any extras, like sugar.
I’d rather save those calories for cake.
Glorious cake!
Life is all about choices, right?
Pure Ingredients Strawberry Blueberry Smoothie
I’m also not a fan of ingredients I can’t spell or recognize as actual food.
So, nope, you won’t find me in line to buy a smoothie.
(Full Disclosure: I throw out all these rules for milkshakes. I consider milkshakes liquid cake. Glorious cake!)
How To Decide For A Berry Smoothie?
So, what’s a smoothie-loving gal to do?
Make my own, that’s what.
As I have declared before, I truly, dearly, whole-heartedly dislike ice in my smoothie.
I get enough quality H2o during the day.
I prefer using frozen fruit as my vehicle to a thick delicious shake-like smoothie.
Frozen Berry Smoothie
Did you know frozen fruit and vegetables retain nutrients better than fresh fruit?
DID YA?!
WebMD weighs in:
Learnin’, OMT-style! (it’s delicious AND interesting!)
Frozen Berries Win The Day
If you took a peek into my freezer, you would find bags of frozen berries year-round.
My favorites are wild blueberries and strawberries.
Which of course, is why this delicious no-sugar-added strawberry blueberry smoothie exists!
You use what you have available, right?
Mixing Frozen Blueberries and Strawberries
Are blueberries and strawberries good together?
Yes and yes!
They go together like cake and icing, like ice cream and sprinkles, like summer and swimming!
They are summer in a cup.
Wild Blueberries
I think the absolute biggest tip I could give is to use wild blueberries in your smoothies.
Wild blueberries are sweeter and easier to blend.
None of that cultured blueberry flakiness.
Three Ingredients
This easy and deelish recipe requires three ingredients.
THREE!
That’s it!
A brilliantly colored smoothie that gives you four servings of fruit.
FOUR! BAM!
Nutrition’d! (yep, not a word.)
You could share this between two people (and thereby get two servings of fruit each), but I typically have the entire thing for lunch, after a long run.
If you’re like me, you usually have berries in your freezer.
Instant yum, whenever you need a milkshake-esque dream.
No ice.
No schlepping to the store for fresh fruit.
No running to the smoothie joint.
Not only is it nutritious and delicious, but it will leave you feeling like you’re KING/QUEEN OF THE WORLD for getting so many important repairy/buildy things into your body in one meal.
Effortlessly.
Just keep it coming through that fun straw.
Berry Smoothie With Yogurt
Lots of folks love making their blueberry berry smoothie with yogurt.
4-ingredient recipe is still stinkin’ easy!
I’d add a giant dollop or two to this strawberry and blueberry recipe, or to taste.
The yogurt will make for a more milkshake texture – which can make the difference between getting this amazing nutrition into kiddos!
Do you, Boo!
Strawberry Blueberry Banana Smoothie
Can you add a banana to this recipe?
SURE!
You can use frozen bananas or fresh – dealer’s choice.
Kiddos love bananas and a strawberry banana blueberry smoothie ups nutrition!
Win Win!
Back To Basics
You can’t lose with this strawberry and blueberry smoothie.
Pure smoothie brilliance, with no added sugar or chemicals you can’t pronounce.
The best part is the whippersnappers among you will love it (most kidlets are suckers for a blueberry strawberry smoothie) and they don’t have to know about the adult things like vitamins and fiber and antioxidants.
No really, you don’t have to tell them.
I’m pretty sure if you did tell them, they’d squinch their noses at it and start begging for the leftover Easter candy you think you’ve hidden so well.
DON’T TELL THEM!
Strawberries and Blueberries!
That’s all you gotta say!

Hard Crushing on Powerful Vitamix Blenders
~ A gentle reminder: OMT! uses Amazon referral links at no cost to you.~
Oh, mah babies. A powerful blender makes blending smoothies a dream.
Whether you get a profesh blender or a powerful other-name blender, just make sure you get one that can handle frozen fruit!
The following review is for a Vitamix, but I now have Blendtec (for full disclosure). I love them both. I would use either or – simply a personal preference (what do you use?).
There you are – doesn’t matter what you make (make ’em all!), just make one.
