I have a new favorite insulated tumbler and it’s NOT an Arctic Thermos!
While, the Yeti, Arctic, and RTIC are still great products, my new go-to is the Kodi brand, from HEB.
(this is an updated post – original post: April 14, 2019)
What is a Kodi tumbler?
HEB is a local Texas grocery store that has gotten into the market of insulated ever’thangs!
My favorite of the ever’thangs is the Kodi 28 ounce tumbler.
It is perfect for Southern Sweet Tea, y’all!
We have them in several colors and have given them as gifts because they are that wonderful.
Insulated thermos…insulated tumbler…
Think of these two words as interchangeable.
Most folks think of a thermos when you are storing soup, and Kodi offers containers big enough for soup and perfect for hot drinks.
Where to buy Kodi products?
The only place to get them new is at a local HEB, but if you are NOT in Texas, I suggest you find a friend or relative who lives near an HEB and have them pick you up one or two or five!
I do not believe they ship, but I could be wrong (it happens sometimes, even to me!).
What does Kodi offer?
Let’s bullet list this badboy:
- Kodi ice chest
- Kodi tumbler
- Kodi cup
- Kodi travel mug
- Kodi sports jug
- Kodi wine tumbler
So, about everything you might need.
When it comes to a Kodi coolers, you have options!
- All terrain wheeled cooler
- 125q cooler
- Soft-sided cooler

Everyone has their favorite insulated thermos, coffee travel mug, water bottle or tumbler, right?
At the moment, mine is the RTIC thermos, but I also love the KODI brand, which is made locally, from H-E-B, and not yet available on Amazon.
When it is, I’ll pop back in and add it to this review (heads up: yer gonna LOVE KODI tumblers).
I, like you, am a fussy-pants when it comes to the container that holds my much-loved coffee.
Any one surprised?
In order of preference for a steaming hot mug o’joe: 24 ounce ceramic mug, double-cupped paper with sleeve, then a double-walled stainless steel thermos.
Whatever I use, ceramic cup, paper or stainless thermos (tumbler), it needs to do a few things:
#1: Keep my coffee burnin’ hot.
#2: Be easy to clean.
#3: Keep my coffee burnin’ hot.
I don’t use a Yeti or Arctic thermos at the moment (Garry and I both use and love our RTICs), but wanted to put them side-by-side to see if they could pass muster.
SPOILER ALERT #1: They pass muster!
SPOILER ALERT #2: Any one of these would make a great gift!
If you’ve never used one before, you might wonder: what exactly is a stainless steel insulated tumbler?
Wait – you’ve never used one before?
In a nutshell, the cups work by not allowing heat or cold to escape into the air.
Think of a cup within a cup (a bit like double-cupping at Starbucks), with one of those cups (the outside portion) being sealed with the air sucked out, so that when you pour a hot beverage in (or a cold one) there is no heat (or cold) transfer.
There’s no way the heat can escape, meaning hot thangs stay hot and cold thangs stay cold.

In no particular order, let’s get to the reviews:
#1: The Yeti Tumbler
In the dawn of double-walled insulated thermoses, Yeti was the gold standard.
Today, Arctic gives Yeti a run for its money.
The Yeti above is the 20 oz thermos, while the Arctic is a 30 oz thermos.
#2: The Arctic Thermos – or Arctic Tumbler
Arctic Tumbler 30 Oz Cup with Compatible Lid – Double Wall Vacuum Insulated – Same Technology as Yeti – Premium Insulated Thermos Cooler – GUARANTEED to Keep Coffee HOT & Iced Tea COLD!
#3: RTIC Thermos:
30oz. RTIC tumblers are stainless steel, double wall vacuum insulated.
Keep your drinks ice cold longer – works great for hot beverages.
The shatterproof and crystal clear lid lets you know exactly how much drink you have. Easy to clean.
All three thermos products do the job they’re intended to do – but how to decide?
Rock, paper, scissors is a fun way to decide!
Nah, let’s look further.
If you want the lower-priced tumbles or water bottles:
The RTIC and Arctic brands are the less expensive route.
If you rely on reviews of Yeti, Arctic and RTIC:
All three have a 4.5 rating on Amazon.
If you want a beautiful product and aesthetics is yer thang:
Pick the design that speaks to your happiness quotient.
All I know is I better decide if I want an RTIC water bottle (yep , they make those too) or an Arctic thermos in my stocking this year.
DO I have to remind you that Santa is always making his list and checking it twice, no matter what time of the year it is?
What say you?
Is your favorite insulated thermos on the list?
If not, you have three solid choices here: Yeti – Arctic – RTIC.
